A group of 43 students enjoyed the movie "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", an adaptation from the book with the same title written by C. S. Lewis. We had a lot of fun and the movie gave us a lot to think too! We will share it after Christmas... Meanwhile, you can have a look to some pictures from the day.

What is a Christmas Card? 

Why don't we ask "Wikipedia"?

A Christmas card is a greeting card sent as part of the traditional celebration of the Christmas in order to convey between people a range of sentiments related to the Christmas and holiday season. Christmas cards are usually exchanged during the weeks preceding Christmas Day by many people (including non-Christians) in Western society and in Asia. The traditional greeting reads "wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year". There are innumerable variations on this greeting, many cards expressing more religious sentiment, or containing a poem, prayer or Biblical verse. 

Here you have some common messages written down on Christmas Cards:

MARTES 29: BYE IRELAND!

  

Creo que el martes 29 nadie podía creerse que estaríamos de vuelta a Guadix… ¡habían pasado tan rápidos los días! ¡habíamos aprendido tanto! ¡practicado tanto inglés! ¡comido tantos sándwiches!... Parecía que hubiéramos estado un mes en lugar de 10 días.

El día fue sencillo. A las 9.00 desayunamos. A las 11 nos recogía el autobús que nos llevaba al aeropuerto. A las 13.50 saía nuestro avión con destino Madrid y a las 18.15 estábamos ya camino de Granada montaditos todos en el autobús. Nos esperaban casi 6 horitas laaaaaaaargas, largas.

Aprovechamos el día para grabar a algunos de nuestros alumnos explicándonos que tal les había parecido el viaje… ¡observen!

¡¡Dublín!! (Domingo 27 y Lunes 28)

Por fin llegó el domingo, día esperado por las ganas de "los niños" por conocer Dublín, una ciudad llena de vida, aunque ciertamente hubo quien no pudo evitar entristecer al despedirse de sus familias a primera hora de la mañana.

Al llegar a Dublín, hicimos el check-in en el hostal "Abbey Court" y nos dispusimos a disfrutar del domingo soleado que nos esperaba. El domingo visitamos "Trinity College", donde nos comimos el "Lunch", y seguimos camino del "Dublin Castle", Museo de Historia Natural y la catedral.  Por la noche, salimos a dar una vuelta por "Temple Bar" para conocer el ambiente nocturno de una ciudad tan activa como Dublín.

El lunes 29 teníamos la reserva para la "Guinnes Storehouse" a las 10.00, un museo interesante, interactivo y lleno de explicaciones bien claras sobre el proceso de elaboración de la cerveza Guinnes. Por supuesto, los niños no probaron ni gota :) Tan sólo accedieron a la "Coke" que regalaban con la entrada. A la vuelta, pasamos por varias iglesias, el ayuntamiento y desembocamos en "Grafton Street", donde los alumnos se quedaron  por cuenta propia para hacer las últimas compras del viaje...  Nos volvimos a ver a las 19.00 para cenar y una vez más quedaríamos  a medianoche para hacer el recuento y ¡acostarnos a descansar!

Sábado 26: Aran Islands Tour!

Las islas Aran (en inglés: Aran Islands) son un grupo de tres islas situadas en la desembocadura de la Bahía de Galway. La mayor de las islas se llama Inishmore (gaélico irlandes: Árainn o Inis Mór), la mediana se llama Inishmaan (Inis Meáin) y la menor, situada al este Inisheer (Inis Oírr, o Inis Oirtheach).

A las 9 quedamos en Eyre Square con Claire, una de las profesoras de los dos grupos que se habían creado para las clases. En primer lugar (unos más temprano que otros... ¿verdad Laura y Mª José? jeje), nos dirigimos en autobus hacia donde cogeríamos en Ferry que nos llevaría a las Islas Aran, donde una vez en tierra alquilaríamos bicicletas para recorrer toda la isla rodando... :)

Paisajes de ensueño, de cuento, de hadas, todos rodeados por la grandeza e inmensidad del oceano atlántico: un verdadero placer para la vista humana.

Regresamos a Galway a las 7 de la tarde, con el tiempo justo de cenar, hacer las maletas y despedirse de nuestras "Host families", ya que al día siguiente nos esperaría Dublín...

Viernes 25 Junio: Interview and free time

Con el viernes 25 de Junio las clases llegarían a su fin. Apenas escribieron o leyeron porque el curso estaba orientado plenamente al desarrollo de las habilidades orales: Speaking and Listening. Este grupo de la fotografía será una de las primeras generaciones que se examine de la prueba oral de idioma extranjero en selectividad dentro de un par de años. Así pues, aunque la mayoría se hubieran quedado una semanita más, los 5 días de clase estuvieron muy aprovechados según nos informaron sus profesoras, muy simpáticas y competentes.

Al terminar las clases, los alumnos recibieron un certificado.

El viernes, ya que era nuestro penúltimo día en Galway, decidimos dejarles la tarde "medio-libre", y digo medio porque los niños tendrían que completar la siguiente encuesta teniendo que interactuar con los habitantes de Galway:

A las 20.00 nos volvimos a dar cita en Eyre Square para disfrutar de "la marchilla" en Galway.

 NO PODEMOS DEJAR DE RECORDAR QUE AQUEL VIERNES ¡ESPAÑA GANÓ EL PARTIDO DEL MUNDIAL!

Jueves 24 Junio at LeisureLand (¡en la piscina!)

Jueves 24 Junio: Galway Aquarium and Swimming Pool!

Para el jueves 24 de Junio los alumnos debían investigar sobre el significado del anillo de Claddag y las distintas artesanías por las que se caracteriza Irlanda. En días anteriores, fueron informados sobre el significado de la bandera irlandesa así como de la geografía básica del país.

Por la mañana tuvieron clases "as usual" :), tras las cuales nos dirigimos al "Spanish Arch" para tomar el "Lunch" casi a las orillas del río Corrib. A las 2, después de que algunos fueran a comprar unas "flip-flop" de última hora para la piscina, nos dirigimos dando un precioso y agradable paseo por la costa de Galway hacia el Aquarium, donde teníamos cita a las 3 de la tarde. Una chica muy simpática nos guío toda la visita del mismo, explicándonos curiosidades muy interesantes sobre los distintos peces, crustáceos, estrellas de mar y caballitos de que disponía el museo. ¡algunos se atrevieron incluso a cogerlos!
